Witnessing
There’s nothing like being a part of someone’s journey into faith in Christ. Most Jesus followers want to see people come to Christ through their witness. We want results! And that’s a good thing.
But how does God use our witness about Christ to change us inside so we become more like Christ? Our witness may or may not change the people we witness to. We can’t control that. But our witness will change us inside. How?
When we witness to what Christ has done for us we re-experience the good news in us. Our hearts open again to the experience of God’s love. Our faith grows. When we witness we identify with Christ in his mission, and so we find our identity re-rooted in him. When we lovingly witness about Christ the Holy Spirit is operative in us because we are partnering with him. Lots of good things happen in us when we witness!

Genesis 12:2-3 says
“I will make you into a great nation,
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
3 I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.”
We are effective witness about Christ when we B.L.E.S.S.
Begin with Prayer
Pray for those in your life who are far from God. Ask God, “How do you want to bless others through me?”
Listen with Care
Begin with listening rather than talking. This means asking questions. Don’t try to solve people’s problems or fix them. Just listen deeply to their dreams and pain. Listen for evidence of God’s work in their lives.
Eat Together
Serve in Love
Over time be attentive to opportunities that God gives you to care for others and meet their felt needs.
Share Your Story
After building relationships and earning trust, look for opportunities to share the story of how Jesus is transforming your life and the world.
