Following Jesus is a journey and it’s all about taking the Next Step. If you are new to our church community and you want to get plugged in, or if you are exploring faith and what it means for you, come out to Step One.
Step one is a simple, relaxed gathering (where we will keep social distance) where you will get to know some other new people at Mountainside, and you will hear about what’s going on at our church and next steps you could take on the journey with us.
Step 2 is a 6 week introduction to some of the basic practices of following Jesus. After taking Step 2 you will be able to answer these two questions:
In Step 2 you will meet some new people and grow together on your spiritual journey. Step 2 is for everyone, including those who are still unsure about what they believe.
Community Groups meet together every week or two. They catch up with each other, engage some spiritual content, and discuss what they are learning together. Some community groups also serve together once a month out in the community. During the pandemic, some groups meet online and some in person. To connect with a community group sign up below.
Huddles are leadership development groups for people who want to be intentional about shaping their life like Jesus. Each huddle has 3-8 people, and is lead by a trained huddle leader. Huddles will give you answers to these questions:
The groups that grow the closest, have the most fun and see God move the most tend to be groups that serve together. Some of the teams that serve together at Mountainside are:

Almost all our small groups are meeting on either Tuesday evening (6:30 pm) or Sunday after church (about 12:00 pm). We meet at the church building, enjoy a short teaching time, then break into groups to get to know one another and grow in our walk with God. Our groups grow in three relational dimensions: UP (toward God), IN (towards each other) and OUT (towards people outside out church community).
There is always space for newcomers, so join us whenever you can. You can just show up either Sunday or Tuesday at the church building and we will connect you in. You don’t have to commit to sticking around on your first time. If you work shift work you can move between Sunday and Tuesday so you don’t miss out. Fill out this form and one of our staff will give you a call or an email to answer any questions, or to help facilitate you joining in a group.

The Journey is a leadership development group that explores three big questions of faith: Who is God? Who am I? What does God desire to do through me?
Here is how The Journey Works:
The Journey Starts once a year in the fall and has a limited capacity.
Why should I have to be the one who forgives when I’m the one who has already suffered the most?
When you’ve experienced hurt upon hurt, or your heart has been completely shattered, offering forgiveness can feel unrealistic. Lysa TerKeurst understands this on a deeply personal level.
We know God commands us to forgive. But how? Why? When? And are there exceptions? Though forgiveness is a major part of the Christian faith, most of us have never been taught much about it and have many unanswered questions.
In “Forgiving what you Can’t Forget” you will learn practical ways to let go of our bound-up resentment and finally heal.
The Art of Marriage is a couples marriage course being held Tuesday nights at Mountainside Fernie.
Marriage, the way God intended it to be, is a true art form.
The Art of Marriage weaves together expert teaching, real-life stories, humorous vignettes, and more to portray both the challenges and the beauty of God’s design.
Celebrate Recovery is a 12-step program for those who are ready to embark on a journey of real and lasting change. We offer safe and confidential community for those struggling with hurts, habits and hang-ups. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, some of our groups meet in person, and some may meet online.
Celebrate Recovery is open to newcomers when we start new groups in the fall and in the new year. No matter how healthy or broken you are, if you are interested in greater freedom we welcome you to check out Celebrate Recovery.
