Church: Mountainside Community Church 

Position: Lead Pastor – Full-time

Location: Fernie, BC

Denomination: Fellowship Baptist – affiliated with Fellowship Pacific

The Lead Pastor at Mountainside Church will be responsible for leading a multi-campus church in three mountain towns, leading a staff of amazing, gifted people. The Lead Pastor will be based in the Fernie Campus and will initially take the primary leadership role there, with future staffing structures to be determined by the Lead Pastor in conjunction with the Board of Directors. The Lead Pastor will have diverse talents to lead the three locations that are in various stages of church life-cycle including an established vibrant congregation, a newer growing enthusiastic congregation, and a brand-new church start-up.

The role of the successful candidate is to lead Mountainside’s mission “to advance the Kingdom of God by vitally connecting people to Jesus Christ,” to oversee the spiritual condition of the church, and lead the operational ministry. The Lead Pastor will be spiritually attuned to discern evil, be bold in speaking the Truth, and value freedom through Christ; hence seeks to provide a church experience which takes a stand for biblical values guarding against destructive narratives and provides hope, light, and faith in dark times, enjoys the Lord’s abundant blessings in good times, and celebrates the goodness of God in all times.

• Has excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – which convey clarity, grace, and confidence, and who is articulate and listens well. 
• Is an engaging preacher who inspires others through teaching the truth of the Bible.
• Has strong interpersonal skills.
• Is a natural leader who communicates well with staff, disciples them to grow in their spiritual walks, and equips them to grow in their leadership skills.
• Provides visionary, strategic, and collaborative leadership.
• Loves prayer and values its worth and power.
• Is excited to become a part of a dynamic impactful church family who loves the Lord and has a heart for reaching the community for Jesus.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Lead Pastor who:

• Has several years of experience as an associate or lead pastor, ideally with experience managing staff.
• Preferably has experience leading a multi-campus church. Candidates with alternate similar experience may be considered.
• Has strong biblical knowledge.
• Has related post-secondary Christian education – preferably a bachelor’s degree or higher.
